Literature Text

The car explodes as soon as it hits the ground, two hundred yards below. Kayra is thrown out of the car and she lands thirty feet away from the car. She is unharmed, of course. She is just a little disoriented by the unexpected fall.

Very soon, she realizes that mister Lorezzi is still in the car. She rushes into the fire and sees that he is stuck in the car wreck. She tears away the hot metal with her bare hands to rescue him, but she is too late: he died in the explosion.

She carries his burnt body out of the fire and puts him down further away. She feels like she cannot breathe. What should she do without him? He has always been the one who was driving her around and telling her what to do.

Then it hits her: the medicine! What will happen to her when she stops taking her pills? She runs back to the burning car, but the heat is so intense that everything inside the car is burnt beyond recognition. She cannot find her medicine. The only things she can save are the two big trunks that mister Armstrong has given them. She puts the trunks next to mister Lorezzi’s lifeless body.

She starts digging a grave with her bare hands. The ground is rocky, but that doesn’t stop her. When she encounters bigger rocks, she simply crushes those with her hands. Within a couple of minutes, she has dug a hole, twenty feet deep. She flexes her thighs and jumps out of the grave. She takes mister Lorezzi’s body and puts it gently at the bottom of the grave. She closes the grave and looks around. She spots a big, flat rock a quarter mile away. It is ten feet long and six feet wide, but rather flat, no more than one foot thick. Perfect. She picks it up from the ground like it is a dead leaf and carries it to the grave. She presses the rock down into the fresh earth.

She doesn’t know what to do next. She doesn’t know where they were going. She doesn’t know where mister Lorezzi got her strength pills. She doesn’t know when her strength will disappear. Despite all her huge muscles and incredible power, she is feeling weak and helpless now.

The next couple of days are a haze. She is mostly just sleeping, or lying on the ground next to the grave, staring at the sky. Every now and then, she stands up to test her strength. She can still uproot trees and throw rocks the size of a van to the other side of the valley. She flexes her biceps and they are still gargantuan. But how long will that last?

One night, a big black bear passes by the sleeping muscle girl. He bites Kayra’s leg and finds out that it doesn’t give. He pulls her leg and she wakes up. She removes her leg from the bear’s mouth with ease and stands up. The bear is two feet taller than she is, but she picks him up anyway. While he dangles in the air, he claws at her. “Stop it!” she yells and shakes the 1,000 pound animal like it is a teddy bear. She hurls him across the valley.

She doesn’t count the days. Maybe a week has passed and Kayra is still super strong. But she feels different. She is puzzled. She now feels things she never felt before. It is like something has been unlocked in her head. It takes her a couple of days of recovery to understand the new feelings.

Then, one night, it hits her. Her medicine was not meant to GIVE her something; it TOOK something away from her. The pills suppressed her feelings and free will. They turned her into an obedient super strong girl!

And then she thinks of all the things she did while she was under the influence of mister Lorezzi. All the harm, all the devastation. Everything she stole and ruined. When she fully realizes what she did, she is enraged.

For the next two hours, she releases her anger and frustration. She levels five acres of forest, yelling and shouting. Huge trees and rocks fly through the air and land miles away. She pounds her fists on the ground, creating deep holes. She destroys everything that stands in her way. In her blind anger, she even smashes her way through a small mountain. She crushes so much rock that part of the mountain collapses. That cannot stop her. She simply turns around and walks through tons and tons of rock until she is back in the open air, all the while cursing at HumEnh and mister Lorezzi.

When she has quieted down a little, she sits down in the middle of the total devastation, to think. “Destroying that complete village was the worst thing I have ever done,” she says to herself and she starts to cry.

Oh wow I did not except this and what a game changer! This is really good and surely makes me wonder what comes next. Questions like is she a good person after all or not and will she focus on her hate for 'humans'? Very cool!
